Parents and family members of those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) often have initial difficulties coming to terms with their son’s or daughter’s sexuality or gender identity.

Gay Switchboard Ireland offers telephone based support to parents.

Loving Our Out Kids (LOOK) is a support service provided by parents of LGBT children who have been through similar experiences.
LOOK aims to ‘walk alongside’ parents as they come to terms with their child’s sexuality or gender identity.
The support group has regular monthly meetings around the country.

Contact Loving Our Out Kids here for information about support groups in your area or if you are a parent interested in volunteering with the group, please phone 087- 253 7699.

The Gay Switchboard Helpline service is available at 01-872 1055:
Monday to Friday: 6:30pm – 9pm, Saturday: 2pm – 6pm Sunday & Bank Holidays: 4pm – 6pm

It is great to share my experiences with parents whose son or daughter has just came out.”
